Project Title: I-710 Gateway Cities Real Estate Recycling Project
(RERP)
This project ended on May 31, 2003. A final report will be available soon.
Project Area: Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Compton, Cudahy, Huntington Park,
Maywood, Paramount, South Gate, and Vernon.
Project Specific Objectives:
1. Provide each of the cities in the project area with a comprehensive inventory
of industrially zoned land that has redevelopment potential.
2. Engage local residents, environmental justice groups, community-based organizations,
business leaders, and city staff and elected officials in a consensus-based
site selection process.
3. Provide accurate information to landowners, community leaders, and local
residents about environmental risks, liabilities, and regulatory agency policies
and procedures.
4. Conduct preliminary screening assessments on 15 sites, at least one site
per city, to prioritize sites for Phase I assessment.
5. Conduct a Phase I analysis on 3-6 sites.
6. Conduct a Phase II analysis and remediation plan for 1 site.
7. Market the identified sites to industrial real estate developers.
8. Provide a model for similar projects in other regions of the nation.
